Xiaomi’s Sub-brand Redmi unveiled their much anticipated “Flagship Killer” status Redmi K20 and K20 Pro Series in China, Both of these Smartphones offers top of the line premium features without charging premium prices for their devices.
Redmi has been hyping these devices for a while now, taking shots over Oneplus and Pronouncing that the “K” Stands for Flagship “Killer” in their K20 Series Smartphones. The company is offering the most powerful Processor Qualcomm has to offer which us the Snapdragon 855 chipset at nearly half the asking price of the Oneplus 7 Pro.
The Redmi Brand is on its way to deliver another global hit like their Poco F1 series smartphone. The price to performance ratio is very tempted to students around the world who prefers power over lavishing stuff. To Woo the more casual users Redmi manages to add most of the premium smartphones features in their K20 Series. Let’s look at the specifications of these devices.
Display and Design
Redmi has opted for 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with no notch and very slim bezels for Both the Redmi K20 and K20 devices. The screen supports DC Dimming and for security purposes, the device comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Redmi K20 Pro Display
The Redmi K20 comes in three color variants – Carbon Fibre, Blue and Red. Redmi has focused on the aesthetics of the device and the Blue and Red variants have a unique gradient design that shimmers towards the edges. To give a unique look for their devices the Carbon Fibre, and Blue variants have red power buttons. The red variant of the device also has the red button but it is concealed due to the red color on the frame.
Chipset is the only difference between these Redmi Devices. The Redmi K20 is equipped with a Snapdragon 730 chipset which is a newer processor in the powerful midrange 700 series. The performance of this chipset can be compared with the 2017 flagship Snapdragon 835 chipset. The Snapdragon 730 comes with a powerful Adreno 616 GPU which will help users play high graphics game with ease.
The Redmi K20 Pro comes with the flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset, this processor is the most powerful chipset in all the Android devices.
For a device which has the best Android processor on the market, Xiaomi knew that gamers will be excited to get this one for lots of gaming sessions and to further enhance the UI they added a built-in Game Turbo 2.0 mode. This mode optimizes the software to provide users several options like screenshots tools, silence notifications, RAM boost for better performance. Redmi also added a Night Vision mode which enhances darker scenes in a game to the player’s advantage.
Oneplus and Samsung are giving users a big battery to last all day So, Redmi too is offering Big batteries for Both the Redmi K20 series phones with a 4000mAh battery and 27W fast charging capability using the added USB-C port charger included in the box. Xiaomi says that it can charge the battery from 0 to 90 percent in 50 minutes.
A Device which is focused on gaming but a phone without headphone jack feels kinda incomplete. So, both the Redmi 20 series sports a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Camera department is generally the area where these so-called budget flagships tend to struggle but Redmi is offering a decent camera output to provide good image output. On the Rear camera front, Xiaomi is using a triple camera system. The primary camera sensor being a 48-megapixel with a Sony IMX586 sensor and F1.75 lens. The secondary 13-megapixel camera is an ultra-wide camera to provide users more freedom to capture more area in a single image, while the third 8-megapixel unit is a telephoto camera used for bokeh/portrait shots.
Redmi K20 Pro (Rear Camera Setup)
On the front, Redmi used a 20-megapixel camera sitting on a pop-up mechanism. According to Xiaomi, the pop-up camera can be deployed within 0.8 seconds which makes the transition pretty cool and snappy.
Price and Availability
The Redmi K20 is available in two variants. The base variant comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, which costs 1999 Yuan which is approximately Rs 20,000/$290. The second variant of the device has 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage and costs 2099 Yuan which is approximately Rs 21,000/$303.
The Redmi K20 Pro comes in four variants. The base variant of the device comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage costs 2499 Yuan which is approximately Rs 25,000/$362. The second 6GB Ram variant has 128GB of internal storage that costs 2599 Yuan which is approximately Rs 26,000/$376. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model costs 2799 Yuan which is approximately Rs 28,000/$405. The top-end variant of the device with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage goes up for 2999 Yuan which is around Rs 30,000/$434.
Xiaomi hasn’t announced a global release for these devices. Xiaomi has been teasing K20 Pro for a while now, Xiaomi may launch this device in India by mid-June with other nation launches in the following months.
